A longtime teacher and community worker marked her 104th birthday by voting in the important election coming up next month.
“At 104 years old, I feel compelled to vote because people died so I could have this right,” said Jeannie McDuffie, who used to live in Arkansas but now lives in Illinois to be closer to her family in Olympia Fields.
Family members gave her a birthday cake and helped her fill out her mail-in vote for the presidential election in November on Thursday, Oct. 10.
Mc Duffie still likes to read, shop, travel, and do crossword problems even though he is 104 years old.
