A New Orleans woman has been arrested in Jefferson Parish and accused of abusing a disabled man before he bled to death in her home.
Police in Jefferson Parish say that 37-year-old Kyana Traylor was arrested on July 26 in connection with the death of 32-year-old George Singleton.
JPSO found that Singleton had many disabilities and had been living in terrible conditions with Traylor.
Traylor is said to have starved Singleton while locking him in a bathroom for months.
A police report from February 18 said Singleton died after stabbing himself while trying to open a food can.
The JPSO says Traylor is accused of putting a bandage on his wound instead of calling 911 and then taking Singleton’s family to eat.
JPSO said that Singleton was already dead when Traylor came back.
Traylor is also thought to have killed Singleton’s brother Robert Singleton earlier this year.
In that case, the Orleans Parish District Attorney did not press charges against Traylor.
The office of District Attorney Jason William said the following about the choice not to press charges in the shooting:
“This person must first be indicted by a grand jury before they can be charged with murder.” The grand jury could decide to indict, not indict, or pretermit after hearing the evidence.
If they can not decide, it means they do not agree with either side or think there is not enough evidence to make a choice.
As required by law, the Traylor probe was given to a grand jury. The result of this presentation was likely to happen. Because of this, the charges were thrown out.
Traylor was put into jail and is being held on a $650,000 bond on charges of manslaughter, cruelty to the sick, and failing to get help.
