There was a collision involving many vehicles that occurred in the vicinity of the 3800 block of Radford Road in Montgomery County on Monday morning.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, Christiansburg Fire Department, Christiansburg Rescue, and Radford Police and Rescue were among the emergency services who arrived to the scene.
Two vehicles were engaged in the collision; the driver of the vehicle heading west lost control of the vehicle due to the rain-slick surface, and the driver of the vehicle traveling east crossed into the path of the driver of the vehicle traveling east.
The driver of the vehicle that was going west was identified as Kelsey Patton, who was 22 years old and from Max Meadows. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
In the other vehicle, there was a little child, an adult male, and an adult female who were all seated inside. All three of those individuals being transferred were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries that are still unknown.
An investigation is currently being conducted by the New River Valley Regional Crash Team at the location. At this point in time, there is nothing else that can be reported.
