Following President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, many celebrities expressed their displeasure and even publicly announced their intentions to leave the United States.
These are some of your favorite stars who may not be returning for a second term under Trump.
Eva Longoria
Eva Longoria said that she and her family are leaving Los Angeles for good and will be splitting their time between Spain and Mexico while they wait for the election results.
“I get to go somewhere and get away.” “It is not like that for most Americans,” Eva told Marie Claire on Wednesday. “They will have to stay in this horrible country, and my worry and sadness are for them.”
She said that the US is “a scary place” and will stay that way as long as “Trump keeps his promises.”
America Ferrera
America Ferrera is leaving the US to start over in the UK. Many people say she is “sick” after Trump’s victory.
Reports came out earlier this week that the Barbie actress was seen looking for schools for her two kids, Sebastian, 6, and Lucia, 4. America and her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, have children together.
Someone who spoke to Hello! magazine said, “It seems like she wants to move to South West London.”
Laverne Cox
Another person who says they will leave after Trump wins is Laverne Cox, who said she made up her mind on election night.
“They gave him about 246 votes.” Laverne said on the Just for Variety podcast, “I was just like, ‘I am out.'” “I cried.”
Laverne talked about her worries about herself and other trans people. “I am scared because I am a public figure and have all the rights that come with that.
I am scared even more because I am a public figure.” I think someone might be after me. “I think they spent about $100 million on ads against trans people,” she said about the Trump campaign.
Her answer to the question of where she wants to go is, “We are looking into different cities in Europe and the Caribbean.”
Cher
Cher was so upset about Trump’s victory in 2016 that she said she might move to another planet. She wrote on Twitter at the time, “If he wins, I am moving to Jupiter.”
It did not work out for her to move out into the outer solar system, but she says she is packing her bags this time. The winner of a Grammy Award told The Guardian, “This time I will leave the country.”
The singer of “Believe” even says that the first Trump administration made her sick. “The last time Trump was president, I almost got an ulcer.”
Sophie Turner
Sophie Turner just got back to the UK after splitting up with singer Joe Jonas. Aside from personal reasons, the former Game of Thrones star said she did not like the way things are going in US politics.
It got worse after Roe v. Wade was overturned, she told Harper’s Bazaar, adding that she “knew it was time to get the f— out of there.”
Sophie told the magazine she was glad to be back and that she was “so happy to be back.”
She told British Vogue in May that “women in the U.S. are being ripped of their rights left, right, and center.” All of these things made me feel like I had to leave, leave, leave.
