Amanda Beth Dunkelberger, 48, was found unresponsive in her cell on Thursday, November 7, at 8:45 a.m.
When correctional officers were doing their regular rounds, they found the body and started saving lives right away.
At 8:55 a.m., EMS arrived at the Carlisle facility and continued to try to revive Dunkelberger, but he never woke up. Travis Shenk, the Warden, said she was pronounced dead at 9:17 a.m.
Dunkelberger had been in jail since November 1 because he was booked on a bench warrant for criminal trespass.
The incident is still being looked into. The Cumberland County Prison sent its condolences to her family and emphasized that it has resources for inmates’ mental health.
