An Indiana man was arrested and charged with allegedly stabbing his brother to death with an orange knife for $10.
When police in Anderson, which is about 40 miles from Indianapolis, went to a report of a stabbing on October 30 at 11:49 p.m., they found a bloody scene.
TV station WXIN says that 21-year-old Caleb Xavier Ingram opened the door for police when they arrived and led them upstairs to where the murder happened.
There, they found William Henry Ingram IV, who was 22 years old and had a cut on the left side of his neck from a knife. Law & Crime says that police also found bloody footprints and blood in the hallway, bedroom, and bathroom.
Outside of the suspect’s bedroom, a medium-sized orange knife was found. The news source said that Caleb Ingram was covered in blood that was not his. Police rushed his brother to the hospital, but he died there from his wounds.
Caleb Ingram was taken to the hospital for “possible medical treatment” because he had “a lot of blood on him,” but doctors later found that he was not hurt.
The man told the police that his brother had bought something with money that he meant to give to his girlfriend.
He told the police, “I just took it to heart.” On video from the back of a police car, Caleb Ingram could be heard saying, “$10, you are going to get mad at him for $10?”
The man kept talking to himself and said, “William, I am so sorry.” “I love you a lot.” Allow him to live. I am really sorry. I am not going to use another knife ever again.
The man reportedly kept asking people for information about his brother’s health. Caleb Ingram “fell to the floor and started breathing heavily” when he heard that his brother had died.
Police were told by the men’s parents that the two had never been physically violent with each other before the day of the alleged stabbing.
Caleb Ingram is being held in the Madison County Jail without bond right now. One count of murder has been brought against him.
