A father in Arkansas was arrested after a man was found in a car with his lost 14-year-old daughter. The father was accused of shooting and killing the man.
Aaron Spencer, 36, called the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday to say that his daughter was missing. Deputies were sent to his house.
But while deputies were on their way to the house, they found out that Spencer had found his daughter in a car with 67-year-old Michael Fosler. The two men got into a fight, and Spencer is said to have shot and killed Fosler.
Spencer was initially charged with first-degree murder, which is a Class Y crime. He was taken to the Lonoke County Detention Center and booked. The next day, after making bail, he was freed.
He said in a Facebook video that Spencer has not been officially charged yet and that the District Attorney’s Office will decide what charges to bring.
“This is a tragic situation and my thoughts and prayers are with all involved,” said Staley.
Fosler had a “no contact order” with Spencer’s daughter because he stalked and raped the 14-year-old over the summer, Heather Spencer Spencer wrote on Facebook.
She and her husband were afraid he would kill her. The woman said that neither she nor her husband knew that Fosler was in touch with her child again.
“We absolutely called 911 during the entire event,” she said. “We did not know that this man was talking to our child again.”
Not two, but six to nine crimes for what he did. He was going to spend the rest of his sad life in jail, and our daughter was the only one who saw it.
“Some things we will never know, but we know that the police department afforded this predator privacy they did not give our family,” she said more. “That includes putting up our home address. The way this was handled by the county sheriff’s office really hurts me.
“At the end of the day, our daughter is a victim, and we all have a long way to go to get better,” the woman said. All the calls, texts, and thoughts have made us so grateful.
Staley told USA TODAY that Fosler had been caught by another police force in July and booked on charges of sexual assault and internet stalking of a child.
“I absolutely do not support predators,” he stated. I have a child. “I have three girls.” There is no one I would put before our children, their children, or my children. I know she is hurt right now.
He said that officers are looking into what happened before the shooting.
“When we get on scene and there is a homicide, it means one person took the life of another,” he said. “Well, it is either right or wrong. The facts will show that, and the review will find that out.
The mother of the child had set up a GoFundMe to pay for her husband’s court fees, but GoFundMe took down the fundraiser and gave the money back to the people who gave it.
The rules of GoFundMe say that fundraisers can not ask for money to defend someone who has been officially charged with a violent crime.
The woman is now taking money on Cash App and Venmo because of this.
The woman wrote on Facebook on Thursday, “My husband is a hero, and we are so thankful to have him home with us for now.” “We want to do everything possible to ensure he can continue to be here to protect us.”
She also thanked the other victims who had come forward to say that Fosler had struck them.
“We have gotten a clear picture of a predator who continuously worked with children and preyed on young girls,” she said.
“This man was Chief of police in Indiana and resource officer, giving us a better idea of why the Lonoke county courts have been protecting him and going after my husband.”
