The Huskies have three road games in a row against UAB, Syracuse, and UMass. They should win two of those three games.

Georgia State’s only win over an FBS team this season was against Vanderbilt. This is one of the most interesting facts about the teams. That was too hard for Alabama and almost gave up by Texas, but the Panthers were able to win.

But Georgia State is 0-4 in the Sun Belt and has a tough stretch of road games coming up. After two straight road trips, this is the first of three away games in the next four.

Why Georgia State Will Win

UConn has a strange mix of issues. It runs really, really well but it has a hard time consistently moving the chains.

This only works if the Panthers can hold up against the run. The two wins came when the run defense allowed fewer than 180 yards, and they lose all five games when giving up that many or more.

They have to win first downs, make UConn throw. The deep shots are there, but the quarterbacks – including Nick Evers lately – just aren’t accurate.

Why UConn Will Win

Georgia State does not have a pass rush at all.

That is one reason the Panthers’ run defense stats are so bad, and it is also one reason they keep losing. They can not think of a key stop.

The defense is almost last in the country in tackles for loss, there are no sacks, and both teams are terrible on third downs.

Also, UConn might not be able to convert third down tries, but their defense is No. 2 in the country at stopping teams on third down—only 24% of the time.
