Is Vanderbilt able to keep the magic going?
The Commodores are still one of the most exciting surprises in college football. They are bowl eligible and have won four of their last five games. Their three losses have been by a total of ten points. They hope to do even better this season.
While South Carolina beat Texas A&M and blew out Oklahoma, it still needs a win to be eligible for a bowl game.
That has to happen on the date against Wofford, but locking it down here before the game against Missouri would take the pressure off.

Why Vanderbilt Will Win
In general, South Carolina may be playing well, but they are having trouble converting third downs, their passing game is not very good, and their offensive line is letting in way too many sacks and tackles for loss.
With four sacks and 8.75 tackles for loss per game, the Gamecocks give up the second-most plays behind the line. Vanderbilt also has enough of a pass rush to give the Gamecocks trouble.

Why South Carolina Will Win
Vanderbilt star QB Diego Pavia can do a little of everything right, but he’s at his best when on the move.
That’s where the South Carolina pass rush comes in.
Vanderbilt has good playmaking ability in the backfield, but the Gamecocks are among the best in the nation in sacks and tackles for loss. They swarmed over Oklahoma and were good enough against Texas A&M.
As long as they can keep Pavia – Vandy’s leading rusher – from taking off, they’ll stall the Commodore O. For all of the great things Pavia does, he hasn’t pushed past 55% passing in any of his last three games.

They forgot to do that in Alabama. In its loss, it only ran 21 times. Each team ran 30 times, but Auburn ran 29 times. It was the Commodores who beat them both.
They are 1-3 when teams run for 100 yards or more and 0-3 when teams run 34 times or more.
In no game so far, South Carolina has run the ball less than 35 times.
