Donald Trump made an announcement about his upcoming administration, and his biggest supporters are not pleased.
On Friday, Trump announced that he had chosen Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, a doctor who works for Fox News and also writes about medicine, to be his surgeon general.
Politico says she is also “a medical director at CityMD,” which is a network of urgent care centers in New York and New Jersey.
Trump said on his Truth Social platform on Friday, “Dr. Nesheiwat is a fierce advocate and strong communicator for preventive medicine and public health.”
“She wants to make sure that all Americans can get high-quality, affordable health care, and she believes that people should be able to take charge of their own health so that they can live longer, healthier lives.”
Trump’s supporters did not like the choice.
Someone who often posts on Truth Social in support of Trump, @BlueArmy24, replied on the site with a letter from the “base.”
“Dear Mr. Trump, some of us…There are a lot of people who are disappointed and angry about this choice.
“This doctor has been a big supporter of forcing people to get the Covid vaccine, which has been shown to do a lot of harm,” @BlueArmy24 wrote. She was also a strong supporter of masking and other bad Covid rules. Please do not let this happen! Sincerely, your base.”
Someone with the ID “I STAND WITH TRUMP” also replied to the president-elect, “Booo!!” For the clot shot, she speaks out!!”
The user also said, “Put the Surgeon General from Florida in this job!”
InkedKatLady, who calls herself a conservative and says nice things about Trump on Truth Social, called the choice a “dealbreaker.”
“She supports masking—dealbreaker for me,” the user wrote in response to Trump’s announcement about the surgeon general nominee.
@SaltyPretzel, who posts pro-Trump content on Truth Social, also looked very angry.
“Are you crazy?” You look like a pro-vaxxer, and we lost everything because we would not get the COVID. They wrote, “This is such an insult to Ma ga.”
Family doctor Craig M. Wax, DO, who backs Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said Trump is “making a colossal mistake with Dr. Jeanette Neaheiwat as surgeon general.”
“She was a genetic vaccine zealot,” he wrote on Friday.
