The Coos County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that rescue teams from California and Oregon are searching for a 5-year-old boy who went missing from his home last weekend.
The police said in a statement on November 11 that Joshua McCoy, the child, was last seen at his home on Stage Road last Saturday after taking a nap with his mother at 1 p.m. He was gone when she woke up at 5:30 p.m.
The California Oregon Regional Search and Rescue Task Force, which is a group of rescue teams from counties in both California and Oregon, continued the search on Monday with help from the air, K9s, and people on the ground, adding to the huge effort, the post said.
The website for CORSAR lists Siskiyou County and Del Norte County in Northern California as being part of the group.
The announcement goes on to say that Coos County officials will likely get more help on Tuesday. It says that they have found “clues” about where Joshua went but nothing is “definitive.”
“There is nothing definitive at this time, so possible clues will not be released,” Sgt. Christopher W. Gill of the Coos County Sheriff’s Office told SFGATE by email.
The department’s flyer says Joshua should also answer to “Josh” or “Joshie” because he has autism and might not answer when called.
This is just a heads-up that nothing is being ruled out because the office is still looking at all of their options. “We are still hopeful that Joshua will be found safe and sound.”
