Can the Orange upset the ACC Title Race? Miami vs. Syracuse Prediction and Preview

This is it. This has the potential to be the biggest game in the CFP mix outside of Texas at Texas A&M.

If Miami beats Syracuse, that’s it. The 11-1 Hurricanes are in the ACC Championship – and most likely the CFP – with a win here no matter what happens next against SMU.

But if Syracuse wins, Clemson is in the ACC title game against SMU, and then Miami is probably out at 10-2.

Why Miami Will Win

Are they ready for the late surge?

Along with the defense, Miami’s offense has been good so far. The team beat their opponents 118–57, and their defense was strong in the third quarter. But the fourth quarter is when they really shine; they beat their opponents 160–48.

Syracuse has lost eighteen to eighteen in the fourth quarter.

But this is about stopping runs. In the eight wins, Syracuse ran for 68 yards or more. In the three losses, they were held to less than 40 yards.

The ACC’s third-best run defense has given up less than 100 yards just six times.

Why Syracuse Will Win

That being said, this team is one of the few that can keep up because they have a strong passing game that averages over 350 yards per game.

In the past, Miami has played against some very good offenses, but nothing like this one. Only Louisville can beat them.

It had trouble with Tyler Shough of the Cardinals, who threw for 342 yards and four touchdowns in the win over the Hurricanes. Kyle McCord averages 359 yards per game and is the best quarterback in the country…

And Cam Ward is in second place with 343 yards per game. It is going to be crazy.

In one of the most exciting and important games of the season, both teams will hit a lot of home runs. The crazy thing is that Syracuse is 0-3 when the other team could not throw. Ward will throw for well over 300 yards.

The Orange are 8-0 when they give up more than 180 yards and 0-3 when they give up less.

That is the choice that was made when the schedules first came out, and there is no going back now.
