The committee for the College Football Playoff just said what it is going to do.
Alabama will be a part of it, and we will all enjoy it.
Based on the most recent rankings, we are making changes to our CFP projections from a few days ago. However, there is one spot where we do not agree with other people…
Here’s our one call, and we could have this very wrong and could quickly flip. If Penn State loses to Oregon – and not in a particularly impressive-close way – it might tumble more than people think.
We’re also calling Georgia over Texas, and that changes up other things. That puts Texas at the 5 and moves everyone down, so Notre Dame 6, Ohio State 7, and because it lost to Ohio State, Penn State 8. HOWEVER, again, we could flip and Penn State could be 7 or even 5 or 6 depending on what happens with Texas and Georgia.
Where this really gets weird is if Penn State and Georgia both win. Then Oregon is the 5, Texas is probably the 6, Notre Dame 7, Ohio State 8.
ACC Champion is of course in, but we’re going with the idea that SMU is out as the loser. Big 12 and Mountain West Champions are in. Losers are out.
Re-seeding is not done. The winner from 8 to 9 plays the 1, the winner from 7 to 10 plays the 2, the winner from 6 to 11 plays the 3, and the winner from 5 to 12 plays the 4.
The games for 1 vs. 8–9 are 4 vs. 5–12, and 2 vs. 7–10 are 3 vs. 6–11.
