Americans should be aware of important changes in store hours during holidays, especially for big shopping days. Costco, one of the largest retailers in the US, will be closed on Independence Day, July 4, 2025, according to its website.
Costco usually closes on major holidays like New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Labor Day, and now, July 4. However, Costco will remain open on Juneteenth, which is celebrated on June 19.
Walmart is also staying open on Juneteenth, giving shoppers plenty of options that day.
Sam’s Club Open on July 4
While Costco closes on July 4, Sam’s Club will stay open. Members can shop from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and club members can visit from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This makes Sam’s Club a great alternative for holiday shopping, especially if you need last-minute items like drinks or BBQ supplies.
Check Local Store Hours
Shoppers are advised to check with their local stores before heading out on holidays. Some stores might have different hours or limited services on July 4.
Holiday Delivery Services
FedEx and UPS usually shut down delivery and pickup services on major holidays like Easter Sunday and Memorial Day. Customers should expect the same on Independence Day.
However, FedEx Office sometimes works on modified hours, and UPS offers Express Critical service during holidays. UPS recommends calling 1-800-714-8779 for more details.
Costco will close on July 4 but stays open for Juneteenth, while Sam’s Club remains open on Independence Day. Always check local store hours and delivery schedules before holiday shopping to avoid surprises.
