Police in New Jersey are warning residents about a dangerous “door-kicking” challenge that has emerged on TikTok.
The challenge appears to be taking place all over the country, according to videos posted on social media.
People are challenged to film themselves kicking in doors of homes and businesses and then post the videos online.
People who live there and their pets can be scared by the banging on the front door.
Amanda Gross, who lives in East Orange, said, “My dog starts running downstairs because he hears a banging sound that is crazy loud.”
She says the damage to her house cost her a lot of money.
“Why did my mom have to spend an extra $700 because it was a challenge? What was the challenge?” To kill us with fear? “Because that is really sad,” she said.
The police in East Orange have sent out an advisory telling people that this is a continuing problem.
People who are against it say it is dangerous and could cause serious harm to the person doing it as well as damage to property.
Police also say it is a serious misdemeanor crime that could get you jail time or a fine.
