An electrifying stroke of luck gave a Baltimore County woman a $50,000 top-prize win in the FAST PLAY Lightning Cash game.
The anonymous winner, who selected the nickname “Mary” to share the story of her good fortune, is a Lottery fan.
“Mary” has played Lottery games for more than two decades and her latest favorite game is FAST PLAY.
She told Lottery officials that she has experienced moderate success over the years, winning a few hundred dollars on several occasions, and credits FAST PLAY for consistently giving her small prizes.
On the day she won the $50,000 top prize, “Mary” stopped at Royal Farms in White Marsh and purchased a $5 FAST PLAY Lightning Cash ticket at the Lottery vending machine.
The Essex resident was shocked when she scanned her ticket and saw a message signaling that she had won big.
“I kept my composure inside the store so I didn’t draw attention to myself,” “Mary” said.
“But when I got in the car, I screamed and shouted so loud my family thought something was wrong with me! Once I told them, they started dancing like they had won the money themselves.”
When asked about her plans for the $50,000 windfall, “Mary” said she hopes to buy a new family car and save the rest of the funds for the future. She also plans to keep playing Lottery games.
“Without a doubt! I plan to pick up more tickets on my way home. Hopefully, I can win a top prize again,” she said with a smile.
Her lucky Royal Farms store located at 10740 Pulaski Highway in White Marsh will receive a Lottery bonus of $500 for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
There are plenty of prizes left in the Lightning Cash game, which arrived in stores in January. Players can look for 13 more $50,000 top prizes and more than 885,000 others ranging from $10 to $2,500.
