What would you do if you just lost a presidential election? If your answer is “take a relaxing vacation in Hawaii,” you will get a lot of negative feedback online.
Many of us are still getting over the tense election season and the events that followed, even though it is been two weeks since Election Day.
Just a few weeks ago, Vice President Kamala Harris was on the verge of making history again by becoming the first woman president of the United States.
It is hard to imagine how hard this must be for her. Harris took a quick trip to Kalaoa, Hawaii, on November 19. She is getting a lot of flak for when she went.
Harris has been seen a few times since Donald Trump won the 2024 election for president. She gave up on November 6 and said, “Sometimes the fight takes a while.
” WHYY says, “That does not mean we will not win.” She said, “While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.”
Trump has been busy putting together his cabinet with people who are already trying way too hard to boost his already huge ego. Harris, on the other hand, seems ready to disappear from public view, if only for a short time.
Some people also do not agree with this choice. An adviser for the Democrats told the Washington Examiner, “She is never been the party leader.”
She could not make it through a primary by herself, so it makes sense that she would sneak off to Hawaii while the party falls apart.
Kamala Harris’ vacation has earned very mixed reactions
People on X, which used to be called Twitter, were not afraid to say what they thought when they heard that Kamala Harris had left for Hawaii.”Do you remember all the promises Kamala Harris made to her supporters?”
She is still Vice President, though, and is now on vacation in Hawaii. One X user said, “I guess she did not mean any of that after all.”
Something else said about Harris’s trip, “What you should ask is why Kamala Harris is on a lavish and luxurious taxpayer-funded vacation in Hawaii when she was supposed to be working.”
That being said, while a lot of people think Harris’s trip to Hawaii is excessive, others think she deserves it. One person on X said, “I hope she enjoys every moment and gets as much rest as she needs.”
“Kamala Harris taking a vacation in Hawaii after a tough election might seem tone-deaf given the financial and political struggles, but it is not uncommon for politicians to take breaks,” a user said.
People might never agree on whether Harris should go on vacation right now or not. We can probably all agree on one thing, though: we all need a break after the last few weeks.
