An open wound on a dog was found on Long Island, and the woman who owned the dog was charged with animal cruelty on Monday by the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Detectives said that Richard, a male Shih Tzu poodle mix who was three years old, was “severely matted, covered with fleas, with patches of missing fur and an open wound that had not been treated.”
Carolyn Robinson, 59, of Amityville was arrested on Oct. 23 and charged with a misdemeanor animal cruelty crime.
The dog was taken from the house and taken to the vet right away to get medical care. Since then, Richard has been taken in by a family.
Robinson is set to go to court on November 12.
