Melania Trump, the former First Lady and wife of Donald Trump, spoke at a naturalization ceremony in Washington, DC, prompting criticism for her behavior as First Lady.
The mother-of-one from Slovenia said: “My personal experience of traversing the challenges of the immigration process opened my eyes to the harsh realities people face, including you, who try to become US citizens.”
People who saw Melania at the event said she looked “pure elegance,” but a body language expert said she looked “anxious.”
But Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who worked for Melania as a chief of staff when she was First Lady, has harshly criticized the speech.
Wolkoff, who wrote the book “Melania and Me,” told CNN, “You know, again, back to today’s naturalization, being in the National Archives with our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.”
Even though Melania Trump is very lucky to be an American citizen, she told me that her immigration story would never be told to reporters. To get her to follow simple American traditions and support American designers, I had to beg her. Every day was a battle.
It is still not clear what American traditions Wolkoff is referring to.
During her time as First Lady, Melania Trump was often seen wearing clothes by European designers, but she also wore clothes by US designers like Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein.
