One of her former students was sexually abused by a middle school teacher in North Texas this week, according to Lone Star State police.
According to a press release from the Keller Police Department on Monday, Angela Barnes, 45, is currently being charged with one count of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between teacher and student.
The accused works as a teacher at Carroll Middle School in Southlake, a fancy and wealthy neighborhood close to Fort Worth and farther away from Dallas.
Most of the city is in Tarrant County, but to the north, small parts of it are in Denton County. Keller is another high-income suburb, and it is right next door to the west.
Police say Barnes was arrested on Monday without any problems after an investigation that began last month.
Police said they looked into claims that the teacher was “having an inappropriate relationship with an underage boy who was a former student” over the summer.
The police department said, “Detectives started looking into the case right away and found that Barnes had a sexual relationship with a boy who was not of age during the months of June and July 2024. The relationship had since ended.”
There are not many details available about the claims right now.
The school, on the other hand, moved quickly to act on the news.
The Carroll Independent School District gave a long summary of their response in a statement to KDFW, a Fox affiliate in Dallas.
