According to officials, a 25-year-old mother and fitness enthusiast with thousands of TikTok followers was discovered dead a week after going missing on a shopping trip to a Georgia Walmart.
Minelys Rodriguez was last seen at a Walmart in Cornelia on October 22, and her last known communication was a text message to her fiancé that evening, which he described to local media as odd.
She never arrived home, and her family reported her missing the next day.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the state three days later after making little headway in the hunt.
On Monday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) detained Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches, 24, who is expected to face murder charges.
GBI agents, state Department of Natural Resources staff, and local police discovered Rodriguez’s death on Tuesday evening, according to authorities.
The victim was a Puerto Rican-born US citizen. Her TikTok account featured a mix of shopping videos and personal stories, including one about a childhood run-in with the cops.
Rivera-Sanches was previously arrested on kidnapping allegations.
According to documents, he is currently being held without bond at the Habersham County Detention Center.
Rodriguez’s autopsy results were still awaited on Wednesday.
