Daisy Link has been imprisoned on a second-degree murder charge since 2022, but she unexpectedly became pregnant by another inmate.
There were two murder charges against Link, 29, and Joan Depaz, 24. They were both being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, Florida. They say they have had a baby together even though they have never met in person.
They told WSVN that Link called their child “a miracle baby” and Depaz said she was conceived “like the Virgin Mary.” They then talked about how it happened.
They told the outlet that the two prisoners began to talk to each other and form a relationship.
Link said, “When you are alone for a long time, you start to talk to the same person for hours and hours, until it feels like you are in the same room with them.”
It was Depaz who told her, “I have always wanted to have a baby.” I will not be able to do that for a long time. You know, if I had to pick someone, it would be you.
After that, they made a plan to have a child. At the time, Depaz thought, “This is going to be remembered for a long time.”
Link said it happened “through the vent” when asked how she got pregnant while she was in jail waiting for her trail.
“When you knock on it, you could hear people from other floors.” “You would stand on the toilet to be able to talk to them,” the 29-year-old told the AP over the phone.
Depaz said that Link quickly learned that if she dropped something from her vent, it would land in his vent. During a month, he wrapped his sperm in Saran wrap “like five times a day.”
Link said, “He would roll it up almost like a cigarette and connect it to the line we had in the vent. Then I would pull it through.” What she did next was put it in “yeast infection applicators” and “administered it.”
She said it took a few tries before she got pregnant. The medical director of the Fertility Center of Miami, Dr. Fernando Akerman, told WSVN that this is a possible way to get pregnant, but the chances are not very good.
June 19 is the date of birth. The child, who is now five months old, lives with Depaz’s mother, the news source said.
“I can not believe it worked.” “Link said, “I believe that everything took place for a reason.” “Anything could be her.” “I believe she will do great things.”
“It is a real twist, it is,” she said. “This is like the Lifetime Movie Network,” everyone tells me.
The couple is now being held in different places. The person charged with first-degree murder is being held at the Metrowest Detention Center.
The person charged with second-degree murder, Link, is still being held at Turner Guilford Knight… WSVN said that they still talk on the phone and video call their child.
It is said that Miami-Dade Corrections is looking into what happened on their own. Our team has reached out to The Independent for a response.
