Crime stoppers of Greater New Orleans has increased its reward to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect in the fatal shooting of Andrew Davis IV, 21, on August 17 in Harvey.
WGNO says the event took place at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Manhattan Boulevard.
Lavanta Carto, who is 27 years old, is a suspect in a case involving second-degree murder, planning to commit armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, and having a gun while being a felon.
Police are asking the public for help in finding Carto because he is currently on the run.
WDSU said that he is also wanted for his alleged part in a marijuana-related plan to rob someone.
The investigation into the robbery that led to Davis’s shooting points to Carto and maybe even other suspects. When Davis and the witness got to a business parking lot on Manhattan Boulevard, Davis was already hurt and later died there.
In this case, the Sheriff’s Office thinks that at least two people may have fired at Davis. NOLA got a statement from Crime stoppers that they are offering a bigger reward for information that can be given anonymously by phone, email, or app until November 6, 2026.
