On Friday, a 32-year-old father was shot and killed outside of Dunkin’ Doughnuts in Ohio. The father went viral because he shared the same birthday with his wife and twin kids.
Garfield police say Jose Ervin, Jr. was at the coffee shop on Friday around 2:45 a.m. when he got into a fight with the shooter, according to CBS station WOIO.
Authorities say they went to the coffee chain after hearing that shots had been fired and found Ervin lying in the business area of the store near Turney Road and McCracken Road with a gunshot wound.
After the police took Ervin to Marymount Hospital, they said he was dead. The news source was told that police had not yet made any arrests in the case and that it was still being looked into.
Ervin’s family and his wife Scierra held a vigil for him outside of the shop on Sunday. Ervin’s sister said, “My brother was… he was the life of the party, he was a legend in Garfield.”
“The kids, the teachers, the families, and even the police loved him.” The killer was asked to come forward by the man’s family. “It hurts,” Ervin’s sister said. “Just want that guy to come clean. You are on the run for no reason, and you will always have to run.”
Before he died, Ervin left behind a pregnant wife and twins who had been interviewed by the news source because they all had the same birthday.
“Now, just about a year and a half later, you are still not telling the truth about his death and murder,” Ervin’s sister said. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Ervin’s wife pay for the costs of his shocking death.
“Happily ever after for a couple whose twins were born on the same day.” “Father and husband, Jose Ervin Jr. was tragically taken from his pregnant wife Scierra and twins on October 4th,” the page says.
She needs help right away to pay for the unexpected costs of the funeral and raise money for her children’s general care. Please help her through this terrible time.”
Funeral costs usually range from $8,000 to $10,000, and we would also like to help Scierra Ervin’s wife with some costs to keep her going for a while.
“Thanks to everyone for you support and if you would like to donate anything outside of money please contact us.” It had raised $2,640 of its $10,000 goal as of Monday.
In a previous conversation, both Jose and Scierra said that August 18 was the same birthday for everyone in the family. After the fact, both parents told The Mirror that their son and daughter were born at 12:35 and 12:36am on the same day, just one minute apart.
Last year, Jose, a student in building maintenance, said, “On the 17th, I had my own appointment while Scierra had to see her ob-gyn.” “When I got home, I called her to see if she wanted me to bring her food to work.”
I called my mum when she did not answer, and I missed a few calls from Scierra. Scierra then called my mum to tell her that she was told to go straight to the hospital to give birth to the twins.
Erwin says that he then ran to the hospital to be with his wife. “I rushed there and was told Scierra would need a C-section because one of the babies had been breached.”
I told them we should wait a few hours so they could be born on our birthday since it was almost 5 p.m. and they were healthy.
