Prediction, Game Preview, and Betting Lines for Auburn vs. Kentucky

With a 3-2 record and a win over Ole Miss, Kentucky seemed to be doing okay. But then they lost to Vanderbilt and then to Florida by 28 points.

The Cats still have to play Murray State, and they have to beat Louisville, but if they can not win this, it will be very hard for them to get six wins and a bowl game. The last two dates for the trip? In Texas and Tennessee.

Now that Auburn has lost four games in a row, they could only hope to be in the running for a bowl spot. The team is not terrible, but the O is not working.

This was meant to be the start of the season, but the games next week against Vanderbilt and ULM are not guaranteed. It does not help to close with Texas A&M and Alabama.

Why Auburn Will Win

Ky is taking too long to act.

It was always very close for the school to fail under head coach Mark Stoops, but everything worked out. The style usually works, even though it does not look like it should. The team can not do all the things right this season, though.

The mistakes are the first step. Kentucky should never throw the ball away. When it lost badly to South Carolina, it turned the ball over twice. But when it beat Ole Miss, it did not give the ball away and was even.

The Cats gave the ball away three times against Florida and twice against Vanderbilt in the last two weeks. In both games, they lost.

Auburn does not have a lot of turnovers. In the first four games, it gave it up 14 times. In the last three, it only did it twice. It needs takeaways to make up for its average attack, but

Why Kentucky Will Win

It took Auburn only one win in turnover margin, and even though it was +1 last week, it still lost to Missouri.

In short, this dog will not hunt when it comes to Auburn.

The teams have not been making their own breaks, but the games have been pretty close. Once more, the loss rate is a problem, the team is not getting things going on third downs, and when it does get a chance, it is not quite coming through.

Auburn missed all three of its chances in the red zone against Oklahoma and lost by six points. It lost 21–17 to Missouri and had one empty trip. Every point will matter a lot in this game, and Auburn will miss a few.

Is it important to be at home? Not really. Kentucky is only 2-3 at home, and Auburn is 0-2 on the road. The first team to get 20 minutes will pull this off.

There is one big change between the offenses that was not there before. For Auburn, rookie PK Towns McGough, only five of ten field goals have been made, while for Kentucky, senior PK Alex Raynor has made eleven of eleven.
