NOW we can find out if Texas is real.
Along with beating Michigan in Week 2, the Longhorns also beat UTSA, ULM, and Mississippi State. On a national title level, beating Oklahoma is not that big of a deal.
Of course, beating the Sooners 34–3 easily is important, but they are having a rough time right now.
Still, beat Georgia, and that is it. Even though they have to play Vanderbilt on the road next, Texas should be able to cruise to the SEC Championship from there.
The Dawgs are still good enough to win it all, but they are quite a mess for how good they are. You can not do that as a head coach, but… come on. Head coach Kirby Smart had to answer for a shove on the sidelines against Mississippi State, and the team keeps stuttering.
A bad Bulldog team made it too hard to finish. Since Clemson, there has not been the same level of success in the SEC, and there is still a lot of work to be done.
But beat the Longhorns in Austin, and everything will be fine in Georgia again.

Why Georgia Will Win
Texas has not seen a full attack yet.
Ohio State is hit or miss all the way around, Michigan can not throw, and Oklahoma is a mix of meh. The Texas defense may have great numbers, but it is possible that it is all just a dream.
It is not always been easy for Georgia’s offense—their running game needs a lot of work—but Carson Beck is good, the pass protection has been good, and the team has the speed to deal with the fast Longhorn defense.
The defense comes next.
It played poorly in the first half against Alabama when it counted and poorly in the second half against Mississippi State when it didn’t. Other than those two games, it has been dominant the whole season. But…
Why Texas Will Win
It is likely that Quinn Ewers is better than we all think.
The 2025 NFL Draft is all the rage for Shedeur Sanders, Beck is on the other side of the field, and Jalen Milroe, Dillon Gabriel, and Cam Ward are all in the running for the Heisman. But Ewers has been the most steady and smart QB of the group.
Even though he does not throw for 300 yards every game and has three interceptions in four games, he is completing 72% of his passes, not making huge mistakes, and playing like a seasoned pro in charge of the game.
It is not like Georgia has a good pass rush, so their defense will not be too big for him.
Georgia’s ground game shredded Clemson and Mississippi State, but they could not get to four yards per run against Alabama, Kentucky, and Auburn. The Longhorns should be able to handle that on defense. But…
Georgia vs Texas: Who Will Win
All right, Georgia backup. You deserve this.
Again, Ewers is great, and Texas’s passing game will be creative. However, the Bulldogs need to step up and be great in the defensive line after failing the test against Alabama and looking shaky in the second half against Mississippi State.
They will be fine, but Georgia’s skills in the trenches are what will make this possible.
The Dawgs’ defensive front, which is still fresh from the Alabama game, will hold strong. The rest of the defense will limit big plays, and Beck will lead a crucial late drive that will allay all worries about the tough first half of the season.
