If it can be consistent, it should be able to beat Mercer, Oklahoma, and Auburn.

It is been a tough week for 15th-ranked LSU since its shocking loss to Texas A&M. After that, they have to play Florida, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma.

Why Alabama Will Win

Force lots of takeaways.

Alabama’s defense has been way to hit-or-miss within games – the Missouri win is one of the only times it came up with a full 60 minutes – but it’s making up for a slew of concerns with takeaways.

Bama has forced three or more takeaways in the four of the last five games – none in the loss to Vanderbilt – with ten in the last three outings. LSU has a problem with turnovers.

The three against Texas A&M were a killer, and overall the offense has given it up multiple times in four of the last six games. Win the turnover battle, crank up the ground game, and all should be fine. But …

Will LSU’s run defense hold up?

Alabama missed a chance to run the ball against Vanderbilt and was not able to do it against Tennessee. They lost those two games, and their offense failed to gain 100 yards on the ground both times.

The LSU run defense has not been great, but if it can hold Alabama to less than five yards per carry, it should be fine.

Alabama’s defense should give up more than 200 yards to LSU’s passing attack, and the Tigers are great on third downs.
