Raising Cane’s, the popular chicken finger chain, has been growing quickly lately. It just opened its sixth location in San Jose’s Bay Area, with fans lining up to try their famous chicken fingers. Even San Jose’s mayor, Matt Mahan, showed excitement about the new spot.
First Raising Cane’s in West Michigan
Now, Raising Cane’s is coming to West Michigan for the first time. The new restaurant will open at the corner of Milham Avenue and Westnedge Avenue in Portage. Last week, two buildings were torn down to make room for the new location.
The restaurant is expected to open later this fall, though it might not open until 2026. Raising Cane’s also plans to open more locations in other Michigan cities like Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Mount Pleasant.
More Locations Coming to Michigan
Currently, Raising Cane’s has two locations on Michigan’s east side. A third one is planned soon in Ann Arbor. The company hopes to open around 20 new spots in Michigan and across the country in the next 10 years.
A company representative said, “We love the excitement Raising Cane’s has created in Michigan and hope to bring our brand to more cities like Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Mount Pleasant, and the greater Detroit area.”
Big Growth in 2024
In 2024 alone, Raising Cane’s opened 118 new restaurants, beating its goal of 100. The chain also had its first $1 billion quarter that year, marking a major milestone. Today, Raising Cane’s has more than 800 locations across the US. Another new spot will open in San Francisco’s Stonestown Galleria by 2026.
Fans Love Raising Cane’s
Fans of Raising Cane’s often debate how it compares to other fast-food chains like Chick-fil-A. Some say Raising Cane’s chicken is better, while others disagree.
One fan wrote on Facebook, “Raising Cane’s chicken is MUCH better than Chick-fil-A! (Someone had to say it).”
