The Social Security Administration sends money to people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) every year.
It is easy for millions of people who get benefits to keep track of when they will get them this year with this schedule.
As the year ends, people who are retired, have lost a loved one, are disabled, or receive SSI should be told when they will receive their last payments for 2024.
It can be hard to keep track of the calendar at first, so we would like to tell you all about the due dates for this year.
Social Security Administration announced new December payment dates
The Social Security Administration is in charge of many things. A lot of projects are trying to make the lives of disabled people and other vulnerable groups better and lessen their poverty. Here is a quick list of the benefits that come with this schedule.
- Retirement benefit program: this federal program is for people who have worked and paid Social Security taxes for at least ten years and are 62 or older.
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits: This program is available to people with long-term disabilities that prevent them from working for a year or more.
- Survivors Benefits Program: Workers who contribute to Social Security can receive a portion of their benefits upon their death, as can their surviving spouse, children, and other dependents.
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program: SSI payments are designed to help people with limited income and resources meet their most basic needs.
Once people have applied for the program that fits their needs the best, the Social Security Administration will decide how much they will get each month and start giving them benefits based on the following:
- If the beneficiary is eligible for the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, they will always receive his or her checks on the first day of the month, unless it falls on a weekend or holiday.
- If the beneficiary is eligible for the Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) program and claimed their first benefit before May 1997, their benefit will always be paid on the third day of the month.
- If the RSDI beneficiary has applied for benefits after the above-mentioned date, they will receive benefits based on the date of his or her birth, as explained here:
- If they were born between the first and the tenth, they will get their benefits on the second Wednesday of the month
- If they were born between the eleventh and the twentieth, they will get their benefits on the third Wednesday of the month
- If they were born between the twenty-first and thirty-first, they will get their monthly benefits on the fourth Wednesday of the month
