Millions of people who get money from Social Security are waiting every month for their monthly benefits from RSDI (retirement, survivor, and disability insurance) or SSI (supplemental security income). Every month, there are five rounds of payments.
However, November will be very different because some of the payment dates are on weekends. The Social Security Administration moves that payment date to the previous business day so that beneficiaries will not be affected whenever this happens.
If you get Social Security benefits now, read this to find out more about the changes that are coming.
Major changes in the Social Security payment schedule that beneficiaries should know
As we already said, the SSA sends all of its recipients five rounds of payments, which depend on the program they are eligible for, when they claimed their first check, and the date they were born.
Please read the following to get a better idea of how the Social Security payment schedule works:
- On the first day of the month for recipients of the Supplemental Security Income program
- On the third day of the month for retirees, survivors, and disabled individuals who collected benefits before May 1997
- On the second Wednesday for RSDI beneficiaries who collected benefits after May 1997 and were born between the 1st and the 10th
- On the third Wednesday for RSDI beneficiaries who collected benefits after May 1997 and were born between the 11th and the 20th
- On the fourth Wednesday for RSDI beneficiaries who collected benefits after May 1997 and were born between the 21st and the 31st
Since the third of the month is a weekend, the Social Security Administration moved the payment to the business day before, which was November 1.
Because of this, there will be no payments the second week of the month. For people who are eligible, the SSA will also give them an extra SSI payment because December 1 is a weekend.
To find out all of the upcoming payment dates, please look at the information below:
