As November draws near, the Social Security Administration has announced the new date for this month’s payments. In November, more Social Security payouts will be sent out, though some beneficiaries will see small changes to their schedules.
The SSA gives regular payments to people who get retirement, survivor, or disability insurance. However, not everyone gets their payments on the same date.
Beneficiaries get checks based on the type of benefit they claim, when they were born, and sometimes how long they have been claiming for.
Confirmed Social Security payment schedule for November
The people who get benefits from Social Security next month will get the following: benefits from the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program; retirement, survivor, and disability insurance (RSDI); and SSI.
Advantages of the retirement plan. People who get Social Security payments, are at least the full retirement age, and have paid into Social Security for at least 10 years can get these benefits.
The SSA will send these checks on the following dates because there are more than 64 million retired workers in the US:
- On November 1st, retirees who claimed benefits before May 1997 will receive their checks this day.
- On November 13th, retirees with birthdays that fall between the 1st and 10th will receive their checks this day.
- On November 20th, retirees who have a birthday between the 11th and 20th will receive their checks this day.
- On November 27th, retirees born between the 21st and 31st will receive their checks this day.
If you qualified for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), on the other hand, you will get your regular benefits on the first of the month, the same day that retirees who claimed benefits before May 1997 did.
This is a double payment day because retirees normally get paid on the third of every month. However, since November 3rd is a weekend, the federal agency will move the payment to November 1st, which is the previous work day.
It is important to remember that you should wait at least three mailing days before calling the SSA’s customer service if your Social Security checks do not come on time.
Another change in the regular schedule that Social Security beneficiaries should know
Along with their regular payments, SSI recipients will get an extra payment next month because their usual payment date, December 1, falls on a Sunday.
A blog post from 2022 from the SSA says that they do this so that you do not lose money and so that you do not have to wait past the first of the month to get your payment.
Also, recipients should know that they do not need to contact us to let us know about the second payment because that does not mean they got two payments in a row the month before.
Remember that the Social Security Administration says you should wait three business days before calling them if you do not get your payment on time.
As part of the yearly cost of living adjustment (COLA), the Social Security Administration (SSA) said earlier this month that all benefits for over 72.5 million Americans would go up by 2.5%, beginning in December for disability payments and January for retirement benefits.
The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) values from the same time last year to the third quarter of this year are used to figure out the COLA every year.
If the amount goes up, the SSA payments are changed by rounding the percentage to the nearest tenth of one percent.
Mary Johnson, a private expert on Social Security and Medicare policy, says that the 2.5% increase will mean that a person getting $1,870 a month from SSA will have to pay an extra $46.80 each month.
