The cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2024 stays at 3.2% across the whole country of the United States. This will continue to help the millions of people who depend on Social Security for their income.
This raise has been helpful, but it is still being talked about because people who have benefited from it think it is not enough to keep up with rising prices, especially for things like food and health care.
This change has affected retirement payments, disability benefits, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). It has helped in some ways, but some people are still worried that it is not enough to keep up with rising costs.
As with the rest of the year, Social Security payments will follow the same pattern in November 2024. This month, the COLA has already been added to the payments, so they will match the pattern set for the rest of the year.
Some of the payments made in November 2025 will not be as they should be. This means that the dates for sending the money will be different next month. Do not worry, though; the Social Security Administration will send checks to everyone who is due them.
Social Security payment days in November 2024
The people who get Social Security payments are given them based on their date of birth and the type of income they get. These are the important dates in November:
- Friday, November 1st:
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment .
- Payment for pre-May 1997 retirees.
- Wednesday, November 13. Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of each month (and retirees after May 1997).
- Wednesday, November 20. Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of each month (and retirees after May 1997).
- Wednesday, November 27. Beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of each month (and retirees after May 1997).
The payment dates for people on SSI and retirees before May 1997 are very important for these groups because they fall outside of the normal Social Security payment plan.
As usual, the first SSI payment comes in, but the second check is for the month of December already paid in advance.
What is the Social Security maximum in November 2024?
The 3.2% rise in the 2024 COLA will have an effect on Social Security payments. The change is helpful, but some people who will benefit from it think it is not enough to cover rising costs of living, especially in rent and health care.
The following types of recipients will get different amounts of money:
- Full retirement: The maximum payment will be $3,822 per month.
- Early retirement: The maximum payment will be $2,710 per month.
- Disability: The maximum payment will be $3,822 per month.
- Delayed Retirement: The maximum payment will be $4,873 per month.
Even though these raises are nice, the people who get them are actually having a hard time financially because of inflation and the rising costs of things like food and shelter.
Keep in mind that all Social Security payments are based on a person’s work experience, which means that each retiree gets a different check.
