Social Security checks for October have all been sent out, and no more will be sent out until November.
The Social Security Administration says that if you have not gotten your October check yet, you should wait a few days to account for any banking or administrative problems that may have caused the delay.
In case you are not sure when to expect your check, we will tell you right here. This page shows the full payment schedule for October 2024.
It also has answers to some common questions about your benefits. If your September check has not arrived yet, learn what to do if your Social Security payment is late.
Read on to find out if you think you will get your check this week and how the dates that the Social Security Administration and other government agencies pay benefits affect your payment date.
To learn more, look at the Social Security and SSDI cheat sheet and the Supplemental Security Income application guidelines. Most of the time, Social Security payments start on the second Wednesday of every month.
On the next two Wednesdays of the month, the last two payments will be sent out. Which week you get your money depends on when you were born. There is one big exception, which I will talk about next.
Social Security has updated its upcoming retiree check payment schedule
It does not matter what date you were born if you started getting monthly payments before May 1997 or if you got both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income.
There are a few exceptions that I will talk about below, but payments are always made on the same day of the month. SSI payments are made on the first of every month, but Social Security payments are made on the third.
Dates may change sometimes if the first or third of the month falls on a holiday or weekend. Based on the schedule for next month’s Social Security payments, the following people will get their November payments:
- November 3rd. This day payments are delivered to recipients from the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program.
- November 12th. Beneficiaries from the retirement, survivor, and disability insurance (RSDI) program who were born between the 1st and the 10th
- November 19th. Beneficiaries from the retirement, survivor, and disability insurance (RSDI) program who were born between the 11th and the 20th
- November 26th. Beneficiaries from the retirement, survivor, and disability insurance (RSDI) program who were born between the 21st and the 31st
You should wait three more mailing days before calling the Social Security Administration if your check does not arrive when it should or at all.

After that, you can call the national toll-free number: Call 1-800-772-1213. The SSA says that the wait times to talk to a representative are usually shorter in the morning, at the end of the week, and at the end of the month.
If you have trouble calling the SSA’s national number, you can also use their office locator to find a local office to call.
