The Social Security Administration plans different Social Security payments every month, such as disability, retirement, and SSI benefits. This way, all beneficiaries can have enough money to pay their bills, enjoy retirement, and in some cases, even fight poverty.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has to send out more than 72 million payments every month.
To make sure that everyone knows when they will receive their benefits, they created an annual payment schedule. Still, this schedule may be different on weekends or federal holidays.
Find out more about the date of your next payment, the requirements, and the new payment amounts that will be available in 2025 if you are currently eligible for Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program will change completely in the first three months of 2025
There are five main payment schedules for Social Security. The schedules are based on the program beneficiaries are eligible for, when they claimed their first benefits, and sometimes, when they were born.
For people who get SSI, these payments begin on the first of the month. For people who got RSDI and got their first Social Security check before May 1997, they begin on the third of the month.
After these payments are made, the federal agency sends three more payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month to people who got RSDI benefits after 1997.
There are, however, months when this regular schedule does not work, like the first three months of 2025. The biggest changes will be for people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
They will no longer get their regular payments on the first of every month. Instead, they will get them on different payment dates, like January 1, February 1, and March 1, all of which are holidays or weekends.
To help you prepare for the changes that are coming, we have put together a list of all the due dates for the first three months of 2025:

How much money will SSI recipients receive in the coming months?
As you can see above, SSI recipients will get their payments on different dates during the first three months of the year. We will also talk about how much they will earn here.
For example, in 2024, people who get SSI will get an average of $698 a month. They will also get two other payments, which depend on the filing category they chose when they applied for the program and are currently set at $943 for individuals and $1,415 for couples.
This will change, though, in January 2025 because of the new cost of living adjustment (COLA) that was approved on October 10, 2018.
With the new 2.5% COLA increase for 2025, people who get Supplemental Security Income will now get an average of $715, which is $17 more than they are getting now. Besides that, individuals will get $967 and couples will get $1,450.
