At 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Caldwell Police Department officers were sent to a store in the 500 block of East Ustick Road because someone said a man was drunk.
The man, later named as Landon Salazar, 18, got out of his truck, urinated in public, and went into the store for a short time before going back to his truck.
Instead of going backwards, Salazar put his truck in drive, which almost hit the building. When police arrived, they saw Salazar leaving the parking lot and saw that he had backed into the person who had reported the accident.
As Salazar ran east on Ustick Road, police tried to catch him. Police officers chased him through the streets of the city while he kept running away without thinking.
At the corner of Ustick Road and South Avenue, Salazar crashed into another car, ending the chase. Salazar got out of his truck and tried to run through a nearby field, but police caught him without any trouble.
Salazar has been charged with DUI at least once before. He was caught and charged with felony fleeing and driving while impaired (not enough).
No one was hurt in Salazar’s repeated accidents, and the situation is still being looked into.
