At Heritage Oaks Mortuary, family and friends came together to remember Jiriyah Johnson, who was killed by his babysitter’s dogs. Jiriyah died on October 7th from his wounds.
Jude Johnson, Jiryiah’s dad, says he is heartbroken over the death.
“Ever since my son died, I have been trying to be the rock in the family and help my family, but I am not good at it. It has not gotten easier,” Johnson said.
His wife Erika Castro and he are angry that Heather Rodriguez, who was meant to watch the kids, left him at home with the dogs. After the attack, Rodriguez was caught and is now being charged with three crimes.
Johnson says that his family is thankful for all the support at the tribute.
Johnson said, “The whole chapel was full.”
He knows his son would not want to see him go because of his death.
“We had plans.” “Because it is October, we were going to the zoo and the pumpkin patch,” Castro said.
Johnson says that he wants rules to be made that make it easier for people to spot dogs that are being mean.
He will be buried in Mesquite, which is east of Dallas.
