Keith McCants is not surprised that Kamala Harris lost the election.
And he thinks he knows why.
A number of news organizations, including CNN and NBC News, say that the Harris campaign raised $1 billion.
In Georgia, one of the seven swing states Harris lost, McCants, who is the head of the Bryan County Democratic Committee, thinks that not enough of it was spent.
McCants said, “I am not shocked by how it turned out.” “From my own point of view, I saw this coming.” It raised more than $1 billion. Where did all that cash go? Georgia did not get it.
The campaign’s state leadership was bad. The needs of Georgia were not met by them. Anyone can point the finger and blame someone else. “The ball was dropped very badly.”
He is an active member of the Democratic Party, but he thinks it did not do enough in this election.
He was angry that small towns in America were not getting enough attention, and he named Americus, Dublin, and Statesboro as places where Harris could have done better.
He said, “Black Voters Matter was the only group doing anything on the ground.” “The campaign did not send the money to grassroots groups directly.” She did not go to the country; she kept going back to Atlanta.
Georgian small towns would have been a better place for her to go. Just having her there would have really inspired people, not just in that area but also in the counties around it. It was not like money was being spent on the ground.
Tracy Stafford, who lives in Ellabell, said she wished Harris had made more stops in rural areas. She was not doubtful about how the Harris campaign spent the money, though.
Stafford said, “Every time I went to the mailbox, there were two or three Trump flyers.” “Where is ours?” I asked. Kamala could have met people at a baseball field. Stop going to Savannah and come talk to us instead.
I guess they thought we were all Trump supporters because we were in rural America.
Stafford, on the other hand, has bigger worries.
She said it is been two days since she got out of bed. She is not sick or tired; she is just too excited about what her future holds now that Donald Trump was re-elected.
She thinks Trump will attack the rights of gay people and is afraid that his administration will take away marriage licenses from people who are married to gay people. She is scared of what that could mean for her and her wife.
Stafford said, “I think Project 2025 will do that.” “If you read it, you will see that they are taking everything apart.”
Stafford thinks that the question that the election really asked was not race, but whether the country was ready for a woman to be president.
Stafford said, “This county was not ready for a woman to be in charge.” “You did not have to be afraid of her even if you did not like her rules.”
Some people on the outside should be afraid of him. Wow, Kamala, she has a lot of charm. It looks like you can talk to her. Trump said something crazy every day, and there was no check.
While Trump spoke in a way that divided people, Democrats kept focusing on unity. But Stafford thinks they should have thrown a few punches too.
“Democrats do not fight; we do not go on the attack,” Stafford said. “Biden should have talked about what he has done during his term.” We do nothing but wait for Trump to beat us.
McCants thinks the party is going in the wrong direction and that they need to focus on what the people of the United States need instead of what they want for themselves.
He said, “I am all for the working class.” “I am from a small town in Georgia.” I care a lot about farming and education. When someone is in need, I look out for them. The party does not care about voters or issues these days.
