With seven wins, Toledo is no longer in the running for the MAC Championship. It is still in the running for a bowl spot, but it needs to finish strong after a terrible 24–7 loss to Ohio in the home finale.
It is still possible to get to nine wins with a win and a bowl win. The team had the right skills to win the MAC title, so this may not be what they wanted, but it will do.
Without a win, Akron might not have had a good season in a long time. While only 4-8, it would be a huge step forward in what has been their best season since 2018. Before that, that was the last time the team won two straight games.
