3. Indiana at Ohio State
Line: Ohio State -10.5
Prediction: Ohio State
I really want Indiana to win.
It would make a great story. It would give you ideas. It would give me a lot to write about and different angles to cover. The next few weeks would be a blast covering a program that is desperate to get just okay at football, let alone what it is so far under Curt Cignetti.
Also, I love it when the market too quickly changes its mind.
Everyone was scared when the line dropped to -10.5 because of the injuries on the Ohio State offensive line. Okay. Good. That came after it was around 13 for a while.
Yes, I do believe Ohio State is the best team in the country, even though they have problems in the front five. And yes, I do believe Indiana’s schedule is not very tough, which makes me wonder how good this team really is.
Also, no. It does not make sense to me that Indiana is out of the College Football Playoff if it gets smashed.
No, I do not think Ohio State 52–6s the Hoosiers or anything, but the defense is that strong, the offense is too fast, and the overall rise in NFL talent and athleticism against IU (the game against Michigan was pretty scary) will show.
The Hoosiers will play well in the first quarter, but the home team will then put up a strong fight.
2. Notre Dame vs Army
Line: Notre Dame -14.5
Prediction: Notre Dame
People in the United States are not paying any attention to Notre Dame.
It is like no one thought about anything after the early season game against Northern Illinois. It has not helped that there have not been any big games worth watching, especially since Florida State failed, but here we are.
Army has a chance to get close to the College Football Playoff. Notre Dame needs just two more wins to get a likely sixth-seed and a home game after three weeks off.
The Notre Dame run defense is also great; it is too fast, too disciplined, and too good. The Irish also have a good running game and a strong secondary that can stop that one big play that Army’s passing game needs.
Right now, no team in the United States plays with more confidence or better skill than Notre Dame. Because of their sheer strength and all-around skill, next week’s game against USC will be even bigger than this one.
