Several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks and administration appointees received “violent” threats Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a statement Wednesday
“These attacks ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting,'” he said. “In response, police and other authorities moved quickly to protect the people who were being targeted.” “President Trump and the whole Transition team are grateful for how quickly they acted.”
That person was Trump’s choice for U.S. ambassador to the U.N., New York GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik, who said in a post on X that she was one of them.
“Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, her husband, and their three-year-old son were driving home from Washington, D.C., for Thanksgiving this morning when they were told that their home had been threatened with a bomb.”
It said, “New York State, County, and U.S. Capitol Police responded right away with the highest levels of professionalism.” The statement then thanked the police officers who took action.
This was how the FBI put it: “seriously.”
“The FBI is aware of many bomb threats and swatting incidents aimed at incoming administration nominees and appointees, and we are working with our law enforcement partners to find out what happened.”
“We take all possible threats very seriously, and as always, we urge the public to report anything they think is fishy to the police right away,” the agency said in a statement.
A threat was made against Trump’s choice for agriculture secretary, Brooke Rollins, on Wednesday morning.
“This morning we found out that our home and family were placed under threat.” We were not hurt and got back home quickly thanks to the quick work of the @fortworthpd.
To the police officers who did everything they could to protect us—in speed and skill—I am deeply grateful, as they do every day for protecting our community, she said in a statement.
Trump chose Lee Zeldin, a former congressman, to lead the EPA. Zeldin said he was also targeted on Wednesday.
In a statement, he said, “A pro-Palestinian message was sent with a pipe bomb threat to my family and me at our home today.” “My family and I were not home at the time, and we are safe.”
We are working with the police to find out more about what is going on as it happens. We are grateful that police officers in our area acted quickly to protect our family, neighbors, and the whole community.
As for Trump’s choice for defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, he said he too had a bomb threat.
“A police officer came to our house this morning while our seven children were still sleeping,” Hegseth said on X.
“The police officer told my wife and me that they had received a credible threat of a pipe bomb that was meant to hurt me and my family.” There is no longer any danger, so everyone is safe. “We want to thank the police for their bravery and professionalism.”
