Social Security payments are very important for millions of retired people and disabled people in the United States. Some recipients will get their money at different times, though.
On November 27, 2024, some groups of beneficiaries will get their checks, but others will not. This is a very important date. It is important to know who these changes to the payment schedule will affect.
Social Security does not pay all of its recipients at the same time. Instead, payments are different for each person based on their group.
The reason for this is a system of beneficiary groups, which are based on when people started getting their disability or pension benefits.
There will be people who get the November 27 payment right away and people who will not get it until later. There is also an extra SSI payment coming on November 29 that will mostly affect some beneficiaries.
To make things clear, it is important to know who will not be getting the November 27 payment and why. Plus, you should know about the extra payment that is made at the end of the month, on November 29, and how it affects people who get SSI.
Groups not getting Social Security on November 27th
For some groups of Social Security retirees, November 27 is a big day, but not everyone will get their payment that day. The 27th will not see checks deposited for groups 1, 2, and 3.
This payment is for people in group 4 whose birthdays are between the 1st and 10th of each month. Here are the things that each group needs to do:
- Group 1: Retirees who started getting their benefits before 1997. This group will not get the November 27 payment. The next payment date for this group will be in December.
- Group 2: Retirees with Social Security after May 1997 who have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of each month. This group will not get their payment in November either, but at a later date, since the November payment is available to them.
- Group 3: Retirees with Social Security after May 1997 who have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of each month. Like the previous groups, this group will not get payment on November 27.
Only retirees in group 4 (whose birthday is between the 21st and 31st of each month) will get the November 27 payment.
The official payment schedule should be looked over by people in groups 1, 2, and 3, as each group has a different set of dates that do not all fall on the 27th. People in these groups who are retired got their checks earlier in November, depending on the group.
Extra Social Security payment in November
On November 29, people who get SSI (Supplemental Security Income) will get an extra payment from Social Security.
This extra payment is for people who get SSI and is the same amount as the November payment. Since December 1st is a weekend, the payment is being moved to December 29th so that the money can be sent faster.
People who depend on SSI to meet their basic needs will benefit from this extra payment. It will help disabled retirees and retirees over 65 who are in the program.
As was already said, this payment is different from the regular payments that are made on a regular basis, and it is only given to people who receive SSI.
Not all beneficiaries will get the extra payment on November 29. Some, like people who depend on SSI, will get the regular payment on November 27.
Because of this, you need to know the exact dates to make sure you do not mix up the payments and get the right amount.
In short, the changes to the Social Security payment schedule for November 2024 will affect a number of different groups of recipients. Only people in group 4 will get their checks on November 27.
People in groups 1, 2, and 3 will have to wait until December to get their checks. SSI recipients will also get an extra payment on November 29. This payment will be made earlier than planned because December 1st is a holiday.
