It has been confirmed by the US government that a large group of retirees will not get any more Social Security payments until December.
This is because of the official schedule, which gives each beneficiary specific dates based on their assignment group. Some people will get their checks this month, but most will have to wait until next month.
The November payments have already been sent to retirees in Groups 1, 2, and 3. So, group 4 (scheduled for November 27) is the only group left that will have a deposit this month.
For people who are not in this group, they have to wait until the end of the year, when the December payment cycle starts.
To avoid confusion, it is important to know how the Social Security payment schedule works. If that is the case, retirees will have to wait until December to give you the full payment schedule for that month.
Retirees who won’t get Social Security until December
The Social Security schedule divides retirees into four groups based on when their benefits began and their birthday. As of November, checks have already been sent to groups 1, 2, and 3. This month, only group 4 will get their check.
These are the groups that will not be getting any more money until December:
- Group 1: Retirees who started getting their benefits before May 1997. They already got their payment on November 1.
- Group 2: Retirees whose birthdays are between the 1st and 10th of the month. Their deposit was made on November 13. It is also mandatory to have the Social Security check accepted after May 1997.
- Group 3: Retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month. This group got their check on November 20. It is also mandatory to have the Social Security check accepted after May 1997.
The only group that will still get paid in November is Group 4, which is made up of retirees whose birthdays are in November 21st through 31st.
Their check is set to arrive on November 27. For that reason, the first three groups will not get their next deposit until December.
Complete December 2024 Social Security Payment Schedule
The December schedule maintains the usual Social Security structure , with deposits staggered according to the four groups. Here are the official dates:
- December 3: Group 1, retirees with benefits prior to May 1997.
- December 11: Group 2, retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- December 18: Group 3, retirees with birthdays between the 11th and the 20th of the month.
- December 24: Group 4, retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
On December 1, the deposit will be made to Group 1, and on December 24, the payment will be made to Group 4. Keep these dates in mind so that you can plan your expenses well and not get confused about deposits.
The last group should have been paid on December 25, but because that day is a holiday, the Administration pays the bill on Tuesday, December 24, the next business day.
Knowing when your Social Security payments are due helps retirees better manage their monthly money. The last deposits of the year will be made in December, which will also be the last payment cycle of 2024.
Also, it is important to remember that the SSI payment for January 2025 is sent on December 31, 2024. This means that we could get this payment early, giving us a Social Security payment with COLA 2025 before that year comes around.
