Wendy’s, famous for saying their food tastes better than McDonald’s, is expanding quickly. They have opened 28 new restaurants in the US this year and 46 more around the world. Wendy’s President Abigail Pringle says this growth is “more exciting than ever.”

New Wendy’s restaurants have opened in 18 US states. Around the world, new locations have popped up in countries like Canada, Mexico, Australia, and several places in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The company uses “data-driven insights” to decide where to open stores, focusing on places with the most potential.
Modern Technology and New Designs in Wendy’s
All new Wendy’s restaurants will have the latest technology. This includes digital menu boards, self-order kiosks, and a digital assistant called Wendy’s FreshAi. Kitchens are also redesigned to work better and speed up service by almost 50%. Tatiana Lambert, Wendy’s Vice President, says they want partners who believe in their promise: “Fresh, Famous Food, Made Right, For You.”
Store Closures and Changes
Even though Wendy’s is opening many new restaurants, they closed 140 “underperforming” stores at the end of last year. These older stores will be replaced by newer, more profitable ones. The closures are spread across the US and other countries.
New Menu Items to Excite Fans
Wendy’s is also introducing new food items. Recently, they released thin mint Frostys to celebrate Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. They also announced Frosty Fusions, where customers can add toppings like brownie, caramel, or strawberry to their Frostys.
Looking ahead, Wendy’s will launch a spicy new meal in June. The “Takis Meal” includes a Takis Fuego Chicken Sandwich and Fuego Fries, promising lots of heat and flavor for summer.
How Wendy’s Ranks Compared to Other Burger Chains
In a recent survey based on nearly 119,000 Yelp reviews, In-N-Out Burger came out as America’s favorite burger chain. Other top spots went to The Habit Burger Grill and Shake Shack. Wendy’s was ranked 22nd, while McDonald’s was 17th, and Burger King was 19th. Burger King even made a joke about McDonald’s and Wendy’s in a recent social media post.
Wendy’s is growing fast with new stores and fresh technology while closing some older locations. They keep customers excited by adding new menu items like Frosty Fusions and the spicy Takis Meal. Even though Wendy’s isn’t the top-ranked burger chain yet, it’s working hard to bring fresh, tasty food to more people worldwide.
