The wife of slain health insurance CEO Brian Thompson revealed Wednesday that her husband had received threats before being gunned down in Midtown Manhattan.
Paulette Thompson told NBC News, “There had been some threats.” This was her first public statement since her husband was killed early Wednesday morning.
“I doubt it is much more than a lack of coverage,” She was talking about her husband, who is 50 years old, and his job as CEO of United Health care’s insurance division.
“I do not know the specifics.” He told her that some people had been making threats, that is all I know. She told NBC News this over the phone.
“Right now I just do not have the time to think of a good answer.” “I just found out about this, and I am trying to comfort my kids,” she said, confirming that police had told her they thought it was a “targeted attack.”
Early Wednesday morning, a man in a mask shot Brian Thompson in the chest. The man was waiting for him outside the Hilton hotel as he went to a conference.
He was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition, but police said he was already dead when they got there.
So far, no one has been caught. Crime Stoppers is giving away $10,000 for information.
