At a homeless camp, the body of a missing woman was discovered crammed inside a suitcase after authorities cleared the area following a nearby shooting.
November 2023 marked the last time Shannon Marie Caslin Reeder, 37, was spotted alive.
Nearly a year later, on September 27, volunteers from a homeless organisation in East Duwamish Greenbelt Park, Seattle, discovered her remains.
According to the Washington State Patrol, she had been jammed into a sizable suitcase that had been abandoned beneath a heap of rubbish.
The startling finding was made after authorities and charity workers cleared the area following a man’s shooting near the camp, according to the site.
The discovery of Reeder’s remains happened during the cleanup.
The missing woman, who WSP stated was “known to reside in the area,” was eventually identified as the owner of the body. Currently, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating how she died.
Tim Emerson, programme director for the nonprofit organisation We Heart Seattle, told KOMO News of the manner in which her body was disposed of: “It was unquestionably one of the most heinous, disgusting things that I have ever heard.”
“It is difficult to accept that a person could harm another person in that way.
When we meet the campmates who are still here, we will be able to guarantee that there are no more dead bodies besides the interstate.
Although you should constantly be cautious, watch your backs, know your sides, and know who you are working with, worries and concerns will never go away.
Authorities are assembling a timeline of Reeder’s final movements as part of an ongoing investigation, and they are requesting that anyone who saw or spoke with her in the previous 12 months come forward.
